Ricefields Before Harvest

yey! A selfie! that's me still with my Spyder motorcycle helmet on, just for a quick capture

These are photos I took last week from my aunt's ricefield at Lobong, San Jacinto Pangasinan, Philippines. Perfect weather that day as we rode our family motorcycle, and as usual a perfect day to capture the moment. Hubby and I went to check if harvest time would be soon.

The harvest is scheduled for last week of October, yet our farmer since 2010,Leo, said the rice harvest may be great yet poorly valued as the unhusked rice (palay) market price is valued at 10-13 pesos per kilo. Well, we are just hoping and praying it would all turn out well, and our best option is to wait until December to trade palay for a higher price.

That's all folks! :)

I'm posting this as an entry for Wordless Wednesday and Skywatch Friday

I have never seen rice growing in a field, only photos of wet paddies in China. It looks beautiful. I love rice!

Hi Sara, they look lovely when it's near harvest time, a true delight to look at :) During the planting season it's different, that's where the wet paddies resemble that of China, Vietnam and other Asian countries'. Maybe I'll try taking a photo next season during planting time! :)

These rice fields remind me Sri Lanka. There are rice fields around the country. Your pictures are beautiful and I am glad to see all these views.

Thanks for leaving a comment on this post, Amila! I'm glad to share these photos from our day to day living here in the countryside. I love the rice fields and I get to visit these places twice a year when harvest time is near. Would love to visit your blog often and see photos of Sri Lanka, I heard it is an amazing tourist destination as well for Europeans on holiday.
